JOSIE SALTZMAN SCREWED ME
Feb. 7th, 2020 02:23 pmI really liked the episode, for the most part! I love the prison world concept to pieces, and I love the twins, so.
My favorite part of the episode was, predictable, the Josie-Kai interactions (the energy there was super inappropiate BTW. Low-key Hades vibes there -techincally Hades WAS Persephone's uncle, we just all like to handwave that xD). The double crossings and that weird, unlikely connection underneath. I liked Kai a lot too; he won me over with the ridiculous “All By Myself” rendition and the Terminator reference, and I’m glad he’s now officially on the real world and this is not the last we see of him. His "beard bros" moment with Alaric made me flashback to Tony saying "facial hair bros" to Dr. Strange in the comics, and I was both amused and horrified). At first I was a little "..." that he supposedly was the prey of a bunch of teens for years, but apparently it's just the extreme sport entertainment of the prison world LOL. If I was trapped for a theoretical eternity with the same people and we were all un-killable I'd probably do the same.
Especially because he didn’t interact at all with Lizzie. I’m guessing now that she won’t be as hesitant to use dark magic Josie will return her own memories (she’s supposed to see the parallels between them and consider him a cautionary tale for what she could become, and I don’t see how that could happen if she forgets him), and I hope she does that with everyone else’s, because I want him to interact with Lizzie too. Apparently the actor's said that they both will remind Kai of his sisters, who AFAIK he KILLED, and that'll make him sort-of fond for them (while still wanting to murder them, ofc), and I find that super amusing LOL.
The part I’m more ambivalent about is Lizzie’s plot. OTOH, I find the concept of “while Alaric and Josie are running from their lives, Lizzie is enjoying herself, seeing the world and living the princess fantasy” hilarious, NGL. But I’m kind of tired of how this season keeps hers and Josie’s plots separate; I want the s1 ultra codependent siblings again, dammit.
I enjoyed Sizzie more this episode than the entire rest of the season (it’s the Bluebeard undertones LOL. And the siphoning kiss. Love that concept). I hope she doesn’t become a heretic quite yet, thought; it could be interesting -I loved that she admitted it’s something she’s thought about and considers a possibility-, and hopefully bring the twins together again, since it’s Josie who inadvertently caused the crash, but I don’t want the Merge to be solved that quickly. I want that to linger for seasons. I want all the angst!! And I'd like that, if any of the twins ended a heretic, they were purposely seeking it; I love the idea of characters choosing immortality. However there are plenty of possibilites here, with Josie possibly choosing vampirism too, Lizzie wanting to keep Josie with her... And Lizzie with bloodlust could be interesting, given that that girl doesn't want to hurt a single fly, despite appearances to the contrary xD (though she has amazing self-control; again, despite appearances to the contrary). I mean, this girl still planned on freeing Sebastian from the prison world after everything he did this episode. I cannot understand how she was ever considered the "bad" sister, she's a marshmallow.
Tumblr’s informed me Kai was obsessed with Bonnie on TVD and I ship them based on gifsets along; I liked the little references to them during the episode. I’ve seen people pissed he had a thing with Jade, but frankly IDC, they clearly couldn’t give less of a fuck about each other (in fact I wouldn’t be surprised if the show went with Jade/Josie. I could get behind that. I do hope someone brings up the fact that Jade fucked Josie’s uncle, for the awkward factor xD). BTW, can this fandom stop trying to pull the purity card with ships. A lot of these people are murderers ffs xDD
Speaking of Jade, I hope (and expect) she gets to scape the prison world with the Saltzmans. In fact, I want all the kids to scape, and to see them reintegrate in the school and all the issues it would cause. We know less about the witch, but I definitely want to see more about werewolf guy (tho man, the special effects there were ugly. Where are the pretty wolves show); I CANNOT even at the fact that Alaric sent him to a world with a perpetual full moon for ten years and didn’t even consider the consequences. And apparently, he wanted to kill them and only Caroline asking him to be more merciful stopped him WTF. I liked that both his daughters spurned him this episode LOL.
To finish this off: I feel like Jade's "Doubling down in the face of imminent death. Ballsy." is basically this universe's motto LMAO.

Date: 2020-02-07 09:38 pm (UTC)Basically this fandom's morality is weird xD. People are now hung up about the possibility of the show going for Jade/Josie because Jade knew Josie as a child, or hate on Sizzie because he was born a few centuries ago (though he was dissecated during them) and like... that's a weird standard to have in a show with immortals LOL.

Sizzie is Sebastian/Lizzie? That is a bizarre standard to have! TVD was built on the premise of two centuries-old brothers falling in love with a 17-year old human girl because she looks like their dead girlfriend from over a century ago, so... Yeah. Sebastian/Lizzie looks pretty tame!
