• Which TV shows did you start watching in 2019?

My roommate got me to watch Hazbin Hotel and Rick and Morty with her (two of the most reviled fandoms on tumblr, I’ve learned xD. I get why, but they’re really good shows -and HH only has a pilot out so far), and I got into His Dark Materials and Legacies. I didn’t really start anything else new, which is my default (I’ve already started THREE new shows in 2020 and that’s a rarity LOL).

• Which TV shows did you let go of in 2019?

I guess Game of Thrones? I mean, I didn’t let it go as much as it just… ended on its own LOL, but there weren’t any other show that would fit here.

• Which TV show impressed you least in 2019?

I’d have to say His Dark Materials; I loved a LOT of what it did, and I definitely enjoyed it and plan to continue it, but I was underwhelmed by a lot of the adaptation changes, especially regarding the defanging of both Lyra and Mrs. Coulter.

• Which TV show do you think you might let go of in 2020 unless things significantly improve?

Well, I guess I grow less and less attached to MCU stuff. I could still watch some films if I hear they’re really good or have subplots that seem up my alley (and I’ll watch GOTG3 for Nebula; maybe Captain Marvel 2 if it gives me some Yonvers or brings back Rhodey), but I’ve been a Tony gal since before the films started soooo xD

• Your main fandom of the year?

Legacies, I think. Most of my unpublished WIPs are in that fandom and I add new ideas to the pile with every new episode ¬¬. I’m very enamored with it (so much that I’ve taken to the task of watching its parent shows LOL. Of which I’m also getting fic ideas because I lack any semblance of restraint).

And now some The Vampire Daries thoughts:

-I knew Vicki died but I’d hoped she’d last a little longer :(. Like, Stefan comes up with elaborate plans to control Damon without deadly force, and Vicki is a measly new vampire. He could’ve snapped her neck and dragged her away just as easily as he killed her. It’s just that she was becoming a nuisance and he didn’t know how to control her, and most importantly, that he simply didn’t care enough to figure out how to do deal with her in the long run. I’m both pissed off about it but very appreciative of how little this show pulls its punches. And I’m a big fan of her deciding to dress up as a tacky vampire for Halloween xD

-Among other things, I think it would’ve been interesting seeing how vampirism intersects with addiction -something that Stefan was err… not good at addressing with her, BTW; he just expected her to immediately adapt to his ways. And I liked that her storyline shined a light on Elena’s classism/judgey-ness/disdain for a “lesser” girl, and how little Vicki thought of her in return vs. everyone’s idealization of her.

-Oh, and the way Matt treats her only makes me dislike him more. And now I’m supposed to watch him and Caroline start something ugh. The show better bring her better love interests ASAP because I can’t imagine he’d be any good for her ¬¬ (I mean, what was the whole “I don’t like you” speech ever ugh).

-I want to know moooore about the council; Liz, the Lockwoods. And I enjoy Damon’s interactions with them, though he better not hurt Caroline’s mom ¬¬. I like her, and I can’t wait to see how she reacts to Caroline getting turned.

-“Don’t be bitter, it provokes wrinkles”, and Caroline immediately touches her face xD. It reminded of Lizzie citing keeping her flawless skin as one of the main benefits of vampirism <3 I love my sweet shallow girls.

-Elena getting Damon to compel Jeremy was just this side of terrifying. BTW, can someone get the people in her life some verbain LOL.

-The relationship three girls is a perfect balance between cute and absolutely fucked up. Like the scene were Bonnie shows her witchy powers to Elena vs. how SHE comforts Elena because Stefan is leaving after Damon almost killed her. Or the séance scene (I love that both Caroline and Elena open their eyes when Bonnie calls for Emily LOL) vs. the barrier between Bonnie+Elena and Caroline, or Elena’s disdainful “you’d just give the necklance back to Damon” (you know WHY she’d give it to Damon. Seriously girl, get your friends verbain).

-I really enjoyed Damon and Stefan’s dynamic in 1x09. “Buzz for fun, football -a ridiculous sport BTW- for nostalgia, and a starry night”. I like how Stefan maneuvers that relationship with the knowledge that despite everything, Damon won’t kill him. And I’m so here for Damon’s Katherine fixation.

-Lexi was too good to die like that D: I really enjoyed her moments with Stefan. Vicki, her… and I know Grams dies at some point, and I liked her too :(

-Alaric had his first appearance and it was a-w-k-w-a-r-d. Poor Jeremy, having to deal with him flirting with Jenna xDD. And Logan is back! I didn’t expect that. I know he’s a jerk and now a bloodthirsty one on top of it, but you had so much better chemistry with him, Jenna!! This always happens to me.

Yep. This is a recurring pattern.

Matt continues to be garbage and I was definitely rooting for Caroline to find someone better.

The council and the town history is one of the most interesting things about Season 1. (I really want you to get towards the end of the season, there's so much I can't say, haha.)

Alaric had his first appearance and it was a-w-k-w-a-r-d.

Ah, so you've now met Alaric! What do you think of him here, especially compared to Legacies?

At this point I'm pleasantly surprised Caroline and Bonnie made it out alive (and RME at the fact that so did Matt, even if he remained pathetic ugh).

I love those kinds of small-town histories/conspiracies so I'm looking forward to more council stuff!

Well, he did help Jeremy and didn't hinder any other student, so he does better as a teacher than in Legacies (FOR NOW). I get the impression the show wants me to think he's "cool", but Legacies revels so much in how pitiful he is I just can't (I feel mean saying that but it's true :P). And as soon as he mentioned the dead wife (hell, earlier) I wanted to scream at Jenna to run for her life LOL. This man is clearly cursed.

Oh, and I think it's hilarious (given what I know, obviously) that the episode tries to make the audience suspect he's a vampire -between the big tacky ring and how he hesitates in the Gilbert's doorway.

And now I'm going to see if I can watch & comment 2-3 episodes more before I have to do responsible stuff, like at least getting a few hours of sleep before class tomorrow :P

Haha, yeah, he's definitely introduced as the cool badass normal guy. He's got an interesting backstory as well.

And now I'm going to see if I can watch & comment 2-3 episodes more before I have to do responsible stuff, like at least getting a few hours of sleep before class tomorrow :P
