This is a story about control. My control.
-I wanted to watch a few more Oscar nominated films but instead took a detour and watched Hustlers. Definitely a good choice. It's good, entertaining, the soundtrack is AMAZING (the title of the post is the first thing you hear in the film, and it sets the tone wonderfully), and while not perfect, it handles the topic well, IMO. I loved Destiny and Ramona's relationship, and I liked the journalist. She worked really well as an audience POV character, at least for my POV xD. As little as she appears in comparison, some of my favorite moments in the film (outside anything Destiny/Ramona ofc) were hers, how she reacted to and got invested in the protagonists; like when she pauses before accepting the drink Destiny offers her, or when she's shown to be just as taken and flustered by Ramona as everyone else was.
-I've concluded I need to watch more stuff with Constance Wu. I loved her here and in Crazy Rich Asians, but I have no intention of watching her sitcom (with very few exceptions I tend to get unspeakably bored them). Any recs? I want to watch her episode in Dimension 404 (it's wacky sci-fi and wlw, so).
-I keep hearing good things about Harley & the BOP film, so maybe tomorrow I can drag my roommate to watch it with me.
-I just saw these pannels from an old Batman comic
where Bruce tries to woo Selina with... creepy stalagmite/stalactite metaphors?
Because one of them looks like a cat?? It's hilarious and I thought it should be shared. Old school comics are something else xDD
-Some Arrow spoilers from the finale crossed my dash. I haven’t watched that show (or any of the others; well, except for a little bit of Flash's season three, because I'm vulnerable to certain tropes LOL. Or that dreamscape episode with dream!Laurel because well. Dream Laurel, plus tropes) since they killed Earth-1 Laurel, the only character I gave a damn about by the time I left. Apparently
Oliver had the chance to recreate the multiverse or something? And he resurrected a bunch of people but NOT Laurel. I guess because Laurel 2.0 is a thing (or changed Oliver to much or something). Sometimes I wonder if I should watch her episodes, or even her new show, but they seem to have taken away the traits that made me relate to and love Laurel, so I can’t say I care much. I love the concept of alternate versions in the multiverse so if I hear her show is interesting I might not be able to resist it but the CW’s DC shows are just… terrible, as a general rule.
-I watched TVD’s second episode.
-Jenna is the most relatable character in the show (along with Vicky, but I’m trying not to think about that LOL) and I can’t believe I’m going to have to see her date Alaric. Or that he supposedly called his daughter Josie Jenna Saltzman…
-Last episode they referenced Hitchcock, and this one Wuthering Heights. Really on the nose about setting the gothic tone LOL.
-One of my favorite scenes in the episode was the girl talk (“boy likes girl, girl likes boy, sex” “profound… Caroline is right”). Caroline and Elena is shaping out to be my favorite dynamic, so knowing what I know that should be fun xD
-Related to that, the teen vibe here is a lot different than in Legacies. Lizzie comes close, but in general the Legacies kids feel more like kids, and these definitely don’t xD. The actors are a big part of that because there’s no world where you can believe Jeremy is 15 LBR.
-Seeing the Salvatore school as a house is weird. BTW, the moment Damon started showing Elena around the place it hit me that, despite them being alive, married and with (maybe) a daughter, not only do they not live there but it belongs to Caroline. I know the basics but I can’t wait to see how all that goes on.
-When does Bonnie start getting something resembling a plot? So far her role’s limited to Elena’s cheerleader :/
-Damon’s actor still annoys me but I enjoy his efforts to stir shit up. He and Caroline have good chemistry, which is going to make things… interesting.
-I can’t wait to meet Katherine. I’m sure I’ll like her and I’m eating up every mention of her. You can feel her presence and whatever happened between them lingering every time Damon and Stefan share a scene or so much as look at Elena.

I finally met Katherine today and I really liked her! I can't wait for her to meet Caroline and Elena, who are shaping up to be my favorite characters (in different ways, because although I appreciate Elena's character in an intellectual way I feel pretty cold towards her while Caroline makes me go d'aw constantly xD). And I think the actress does a good job of making me feel they're different people and I'm guessing she'll just get better with time.

She absolutely does, they're very distinct characters. She only gets better from here. :3
