some updates and other ramblings

-I updated my intro post with a little more info. Basically, ships I'll write for prompt posts, a list of tropes I like so you could see what to expect, and master lists to edits (icons, really) and fics. And lastly, a little to-do list of fandom events for this month, to help me keep track of things (and publicise my shame if I don't deliver xD).

-Speaking of edits and fics, I still accept prompts for ficlets here, and icon requests here, during the rest of the weekend. I made a few The Good Place icons and wrote a couple of short ficlets: a Carmilla/Laura (book) Snow White AU, and a Cersei/Sansa The Hunger Games AU.

-ETA: I ended up checking out the Three Sentences Ficathon and I wrote a couple of gen (didn't know I had it in me) mini ficlets: Sansa + no queen has clean hands and Diana + time.

-I commented on the snowflake friending meme here, if anyone's curious. It won't let me edit to add a couple fandoms I missed LOL (HP and old Hollywood films mainly).

-I decided that in order to get my Star Trek rewatch started, I'm going to start by watching every show's pilot, including those I haven't watched yet (TAS, Enterprise, and Picard). Then I'll get on with a TOS rewatch, and so on. I started yesterday by watching The Man Trap -Netflix wanted me to watch The Cage first, but I refused). I love Kirk's intro, teasing Bones about his ex. And I always enjoy it when Uhura teases/flirts with Spock ("tell me I'm pretty and tell me about Vulcan under the moon", "Vulcan has no moon", "I'm not surprised!" LOL). As a "first contact with an alien lifeform" is not my favorite example, nor one of my favorite TOS episodes, but it's entertaining enough.

-How is it that I adore cheesy, over the top, grandiose love stories in film etc. (A Knight's Tale, Ever After, But I'm a Cheerleader, Crazy Rich Asians, Titanic, Lois & Clark...) but I can't ever write them UGH. One of the fics I want to do for this month is supposed to be inspired on romance novels conventions; I do well with those because they're often things that squirt the line into the messy tropes I love, but HEA are hard to write for me LOL. Even "happy for now" endings. Basically closed endings, especially closed happy endings, don't jive well with me.
